Good Reads

I think that I was born reading – or pretending to read, anyhow. Both sets of my grandparents came from very humble backgrounds and all of them believed in the power of education.

One of my earliest, most vivid memories is of sitting on steps of the front porch of our house, “reading” the newspaper. I remember hearing my mother call to my dad to come and look. “Isn’t she smart!” my dad said proudly. I was three.

So I continued to read, and have not stopped in all of my 64 years.

About the time I started to pretend to read, I also started to pretend to be a school teacher. I taught everything – my stuffed animals, our dog Socks, the neighborhood kids, and my little sister, Tammy. This picture was taken during one of her earliest lessons. She claims that I’m still telling her what to do.

In this section of this BLOG, I will share with you some of the great books that I’m reading and love. If you are like me, I’m always looking for something great to read. I have some wonderful reading friends who keep me inspired to try new authors and genres. So, check back every once in a while to see what’s good to read.
